A man came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find his
5-year old son waiting for him at the door.

SON: Daddy, may I ask you a question?
DAD: Yeah sure, what it is?, replied the man.
SON: Daddy, how much do you make an hour?
DAD: That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?,
the man asked angrily.
SON: I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?
DAD: If you must know, I make £25 an hour.
SON: Oh, the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: Daddy, may I please borrow £10?

The father was furious. If the only reason you asked so you
can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then
you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about
why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard every day for such
childish frivolities'.

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door.
The man sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions.
How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?

After about an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think:
May be there was something he really needed to buy with that £10.00. And
he really didn't ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy's room
and opened the door.
'Are you asleep, son?' He asked.
'No daddy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.
'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the man.
'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you.
Here's the £10.00 you asked for.'
The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you daddy!' he yelled.
Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up notes.

The man saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his father.
'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the father grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.
'Daddy, I have £25 now. Can I buy an hour of your time?
Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and begged for his forgiveness.

It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life.
We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some
time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.
Do remember to share that £25 worth of your time with someone you love.

If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a
matter of hours. But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

LG Mobile phone design competition

Design of mobile phone concepts seems to be a pretty popular thing among among both professional and hobbyist designers around the world.

And they do come up with some pretty cool stuff quite often.

Well, if you are U.S. resident, have some good ideas what you would like your mobile phone to do in a few years, and the talent to come up with an interesting design, you might even get paid for it.

Last week LG has announced the competition to design “…the next revolutionary LG mobile phone” and has $80K of prize money to spend.

The winner will reap $20K, #2 will get $10K, number 3 -$5K. And then there’s 40 honorable mentions that will receive $1K and LG U.S. phone each.

Sounds pretty cool. The only thing I did not like about the competition was that it’s open only for U.S. residents.

C’mon, LG, why do you exclude the rest of the world? A lot of cool stuff, especially in phone design, come from outside U.S. nowadays…

Kiss of Death (Snake) by Dr Shaista Wahidi - ARY Morning Show Video

Waqar Zaka (host of a “dare” show) with Dr. Shaista Wahidi (host of Morning Show on ARY TV) where they try to have her achieve a “Guinness World Record” for female host kissing a snake on the head (between head and eyes).

Interesting for the interaction between the two and the snake.

Other than that, don’t know what the relevance is for this - but evidently it is seen as evidence that women have guts as well (I guess they haven’t heard of childbirth).

Waqar Zaka is a bit creepy as well - the “dare” show he hosts encourages youth to do seemingly dangerous things and eating the same type of rotting foods as featured in “Fear Factor”. Except with THEIR show one is not sure if they have skilled experts who can ensure safety for their pakistani participants.

Do they have the ability to take injured participants to hospital in a hurry (or will they be caught up in Karachi traffic on the road).

The structure of the “dare” programs seems to indicate a total absence of “wise” directors at the top, as it seems to border on a glamorization of a “dare culture” (which along with improper “peer pressure” can lead to people doing what may suit other people, but may not be the best for their own health and safety interests).

This aspect is not as evident in “Fear Factor” and the Pakistani programs would do well to steer clear of the creepy aspects and regularize their programs towards a challenge-type programs, where the host DOES NOT encourage the participants to “go ahead” (even while they are disavowing culpability of the host and the TV channel if “anything goes wrong”).

In a court of law, it could be challenged that the underage participants were coerced under conditions created by the host to do the things they did.

Richard Holbrooke, Pakistan is not a failed state

The United States supports "unambiguously" President Asif Ali Zardari
and rejects talk that Pakistan is becoming a failed state, US envoy
Richard Holbrooke said Tuesday.

"Pakistan's of such immense importance to the United States,
strategically and politically, that our goal must be to support
unambiguously and help stabilize a democratic Pakistan headed by its
elected president, Asif Ali Zardari," Holbrooke told US lawmakers.

Rejecting US media reporting that President Barack Obama's
administration is seeking a deal with Zardari's political rival Nawaz
Sharif, the special envoy added: "We do not think Pakistan is a failed
state.

"We think it is a state that is under extreme test. We have the same
common enemies," said Holbrooke, who is Obama's special representative
for Pakistan and Afghanistan.

His appearance before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs came a
day before Obama was to host Zardari and Afghan President Hamid Karzai
at the White House.

Holbrooke said: "Our most vital national security interests are at stake."

But the US administration had absolutely no interest in seeing the
Pakistani military return to power in place of Zardari's shaky
government.

"We are strongly opposed to any such event. We have made that
unambiguous and made it clear to all parties, publicly and privately,"
Holbrooke said.

"We think this would be a terrible event."

Jamat-ud-Daawa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed house arrest extended

Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif
Tuesday constituted a three-member full bench to hear the petitions of
the leaders of Jamat-ud-Daawa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and Nazir Ahmad,
challenging their detention.

The full bench comprising Justice Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhary, Justice Hasnat
Ahmad Khan and Justice Zubdatul Hussain will hear the petitions from
tomorrow (Wednesday).

Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and other JtD leaders were put under house arrest
on December 12, 2008 after Mumbai terror attacks and imposition of ban
by United Nations Organization (UNO) on JtD.

Earlier, Justice Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhary had heard this petition filed by
JtD leaders and sent it back to the Chief Justice LHC with observation
for the constitution of a larger bench.

Meanwhile, the government got further extension of 60 days in the
detention period of Hafiz Saeed and Nazir Ahmad by a review board of
the LHC on Tuesday.

Pakistan’s Nuclear weapons are safe said zardari

Asif Ali Zardari President of Pakistan Tuesday is rejecting U.S.
concerns some of his country's nuclear weapons are at risk of being
acquired by members of the Taliban.

concerns some of his country's nuclear weapons are at risk of being
acquired by members of the Taliban.

In the interview Zardari said the region is not at risk of falling
into the Taliban's control.

"We have a 700,000 [man] army. How could they take over?" he said.

Zardari also brushed aside U.S. concerns Taliban sympathizers within
Pakistan's army could help the organization acquire some of the
country's nuclear weapons.

"There aren't any, sir, sympathizers for them," he said. "There is a
mindset in the local area maybe who feel they are akin to the same
religion, God, etc, etc. But nothing that should concern anybody as
far as the nuclear arsenal or other instruments of such sort."

Zardari also reacted to the New York Times' report that Pakistani
officials have repeatedly denied American requests for more
information on the location of the country's nuclear weapons.

"I think it's on a need-to-know basis information," he said of the
weapons' location. "If it comes up we might and I might not share it
with them, it depends.
