Google has just launched the Urdu Transliteration Tool

Google has just launched the Urdu Transliteration Tool as a Google
Labs project. It is intended to help people unfamiliar with the Urdu
keyboards to phonetically generate content in Urdu script using
English/Roman script. You can find the tool here:

I am excited about this launch as I am very passionate about Urdu and
have always enjoyed reading Urdu poetry and prose. Unfortunately there
is limited content available in Urdu on the web. I hope this launch
will make generating Urdu content a bit easier and open it to a wider
audience. So please spread the word around. The rich text editing tool
and integration with GMail will be launched later this year.
